Leite's Historic 32-Point Explosion Carries Portland Past Washington

*Carla Leite* turned in one of the most dominant individual performances of the season, and our prediction model got absolutely torched for it. The Portland guard dropped 32 points on efficient shooting, added 9 assists and 6 rebounds for a staggering 47 points + rebounds + assists—the kind of game that makes you question everything you thought you knew about a player's ceiling.
Leite's third quarter. She went off in isolation and off-ball catch-and-shoot situations, building a lead that Portland held despite Washington's fourth-quarter push. By the time Austin and Iriafen were forcing late-game heroics, the damage was already done—and so was our prediction sheet.
Portland's 120–118 victory over Washington was a close one on the scoreboard, but the prop betting narrative was a bloodbath. We graded 34 active props and hit just 12 of them for a 35.3% hit rate and a brutal –$110.91 P/L with a –32.6% ROI. The culprit? We went catastrophically low on Leite's production. She crushed our UNDER on points (14.5), our UNDER on points + rebounds (16.5), and—most painfully—our UNDER on points + rebounds + assists (21.5). That last one was a 25.5-point margin miss with only 8% confidence. Even when we went high on her, like the OVER on points + assists at 19.5, she exceeded it by 21.5 points.
Michaela Onyenwere and Kiki Iriafen also had massive games for Washington that buried us. Onyenwere finished with 35 combined points + rebounds, massacring our 12.5 line by 22.5 points. Iriafen posted a 44 point + rebounds + assists line that blew past our 26.5 UNDER by 17.5. Shakira Austin, meanwhile, was the only major Washington piece we got somewhat right—we nailed her UNDER on points (13.5) and her rebounds (7.5), though she still scraped together 22 combined points + rebounds, just 0.5 points over our line on that one.
On the Portland side, Sonia Citron exploded for 42 combined points + rebounds + assists, a 16.5-point miss on our 25.5 UNDER. Bridget Carleton was one of the few bright spots—we got her OVER on points + rebounds at 16.5 correct with her actual of 19. Georgia Amoore was the only Washington guard we got right, landing on her UNDER for points + assists at 12.5 with an actual of just 5.
This game was a master class in humility. We came into it thinking Leite was a 14.5-point player. She put up 32. We thought she'd grab 6 combined boards and dishes. She delivered 15. The confidence ratings on our biggest misses tell the whole story—we were cocky on the low side, and the market, plus Leite's actual performance, made us pay for it.

A virtuoso performance that shredded our entire projection model. We had her UNDER on points (14.5), points + rebounds (16.5), and points + rebounds + assists (21.5)—all demolished by 17.5, 21.5, and 25.5 points respectively. Her 47 combined PRA was the single-most predictively catastrophic stat line of the night.
Michaela Onyenwere
Her 35 combined points + rebounds blew past our 12.5 UNDER by 22.5 points—the second-biggest miss of the night. A dominant two-way performance that we fundamentally underestimated.
Kiki Iriafen
The 44 combined PRA annihilated our 26.5 UNDER by 17.5 points, our third-biggest miss. Multiple UNDER misses on assists (1.5), rebounds (9.5), and reb + ast (10.5) stacked up into a nightmare night.
Shakira Austin
One of the rare wins: we nailed her points UNDER (13.5) and her rebounds OVER (7.5). But her 22 combined points + rebounds came within 0.5 of our 21.5 UNDER—a brutal near-miss that stung given the overall slaughter.
